Amoebicide/ Antiprotozoal
Metronidazole is commonly used in veterinary medicine for the treatment of dogs and cats. Its primary indications include:
Giardiasis
Anaerobic bacterial infections
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
Oral and dental infections
Diarrhea and collins associated with bacterial or protozoal pathogens
 
Dosage:
5 to 10 days treatment
Anaerobi infections:
10 - 30mg/kg every 6 - 12 hours
Giardia:
Cats- 8 to 10mg/kg
Dogs- 15 to 60mg/kg every 12 hours
